The Down Side Of Home Ownership

I broke my arm clearing ice from my eaves. Light blogging ahead.

  1. Sorry to hear that, Fester. I broke my leg slipping on some ice about 6 years ago--no fun.

  2. Ouch.

Well, get well soon! (Six weeks for an arm to knit once we're adults, right?)

  3. Ouch. Sounds like a severe downturn, as measured from peak to trough. Hope you heal fast and well.

  4. Oh, that's too bad -- hope you heal well and quickly.
It is extremely boring, but get as much rest as you can -- like lying down with your arm elevated on a pillow for 10 or 12 hours a day if possible. This keeps the swelling down and allows your body to focus your energy on healing. I broke my leg 14 years ago and learned more than I ever wanted to know about bone healing -- it is a process which cannot be rushed, and if you do foolish things like allow too much swelling or vibration (like riding motorcycles) then this can delay bone healing. Be kind to yourself -- take as much time off work as you can, and rent lots of funny movies. Take a multivitamin, too.
