My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world. Jack Layton

The Kenney Affair
The letter is a red herring. The central question in this case is this: should a minister of the crown be lobbying for votes for his party among those for whom his ministry has responsibility? How can his ministry's constituents be certain that the minister is doing his job based on the merits of their case, rather than on the political weight he gives to their community? Once you start to blur the line (or in this case obliterate it) between partisan politics and ministerial duties, you open the door to cronyism and money for votes quid pro quos. If Kenney had any character at all, he would resign. I expect him to stay.

Jason Kenney, Globe Trotter
Mr. Kenney could be here working on Haiti, as the Liberals suggest or, he could be in the House of Commons, like he was supposed to be.

Kenney Adds To His List Of Sins
Kenney is now a published liar, as well as someone who smears the Roman Catholic Church, by proxy. Why, oh why is this man allowed to take Holy Communion? He defiles any church he enters. Bishop Fred Henry, please take some action here.
Update: What Kenney said in his speech:
Update: What Kenney said in his speech:
We have articulated and implemented a zero tolerance approach to anti-Semitism. What does this mean? It means that we eliminated the government funding relationship with organizations like for example, the Canadian Arab Federation, whose leadership apologized for terrorism or extremism, or who promote hatred, in particular anti-Semitism.If you read what he now says he is saying, he includes everything but the truth. His new sin, is a sin of omission. He needs to apologize to the Church, now. Recommend this Post
We have ended government contact with like-minded organizations like the Canadian Islamic Congress, whose President notoriously said that all Israelis over the age of 18 are legitimate targets for assassination. We have defunded organizations, most recently like KAIROS, who are taking a leadership role in the boycott. And we’re receiving a lot of criticism for these decisions. I can’t recall how many times I’ve been sued for some of the decisions that we have taken, but we believe that we’ve done these things for the right reasons and we stand by these decisions.

Question Of The Day
Since Jason Kenney, is including the Roman Catholic Church in his smear of KAIROS, why is Mr. Kenney being allowed to take Holy Communion? Surely calling the Church "antisemitic" is a greater, (or at least equal) offense than voting for same sex marriage? Perhaps the Catholic Civil Rights League should speak up about this issue.

The Other Half Of Jason Kenney's Job Description
Jason Kenney is not only the chief apologizer for the government, he is also the chief insulter. Today Jason had his insulter hat on as he accused one of Canada's greatest heroes, former General and now Senator, Romeo Dallaire, of only being interested in child soldiers since the Tories took power.
Update: What a surprise, the Liberal leadership is heading for the hills. Dion is even hinting that Dallaire will be disciplined for telling the truth. I should have seen this coming. As usual the Liberal leadership is being serious, very serious.
Update 2: Aaron Wherry provides some other witnesses from other forums who said pretty much what Dallaire said yesterday. The idea that countries that ignore and stomp on international law are no better than the terrorists they fight, is only controversial to neo-con thugs and emasculated Liberal Party officials. Jason Kenney Superman Or Hitman?
Jason Kenney is an amazing man. One week he is a nuclear expert, the next he is an expert on Canada's foreign policy. One wonders when he gets the time to run his own portfolio?
Update:Last night's "At Issue" panel had some interesting things to say about the whole Pakistan thing. The podcast isn't up as of 7:30 am EST, but I am sure it will be shortly.
Update the Second: Thanks to my anonymous commenter, I present yet another piece of the puzzle that is Jason Kenney. Mr. Kenney takes the time to answer a letter sent to him by Khurrum Awan of the Canadian Islamic Congress.
Notice Mr. Kenney's style. It is perfectly in sync with the new ethos sweeping Ottawa. Why defend one of the agencies of your own government when you can attack it (characterizing a complaint to the Canadian Human Rights Commission as "an attack on freedom of expression") and the person defending it? Are we to expect the head of the Commission to be fired like Linda Keen if it rules contrary to the wishes of Mr. Kenney? Notice too how he takes the time to send a copy of his letter to Mr. Awan's employer for "clarification". It takes a special kind of man to go out of his way like that. Mr. Kenney is just that kind of man. No wonder Stephen Harper calls on him whenever he needs someone kneecapped. He is Stephen Harper's kind of guy. Recommend this Post
