My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world. Jack Layton

Be Careful What You Wish For
The Tories are going to spend the summer campaigning for Senate reform. How would you like to be trapped at that BBQ, eh? "Er, sorry, I have a dentist's appointment, got to run." Is there no one in the Conservative Party who thinks this agitating for Senate Reform might just be a bad idea? The government is going through hell right now trying to change the equalization formula, and that is with an unelected and largely politically weak Senate. Now, imagine the same scenario playing out with an elected Senate, with legitimacy equal to the Commons (if they go all the way) and equal representation from each province. I would think it would give some members of the CPC some pause to consider the consequences of giving the "have not" provinces the keys to the cash drawer. Apparently not.
