I think the polls are to volitile, Anonymous. I think any party (and especially one protesting it doesn't want an "unnecessary" election) caught causing one, would be in for a world of hurt.
There is one issue that can't be finessed -- the HST harmonization in BC and Ontario.The NDP is foursquare in opposition to this, and the Bloc isn't about to help the Tories pass it given that those two governments are being compensated/bribed for it.Which means... unless the Liberals can be talked in off that ledge sometime before March 31, 2010, there will be a reckoning...
