My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world. Jack Layton

Question Of The Day
How big does the deficit have to get, before the Conservatives stop presenting themselves as good stewards of the public purse? How big does it need to get before people stop believing them? To me, this is nothing more than another example of the "let's cut taxes, but spend anyway" philosophy that has destroyed government finances wherever it has been tried. Like communism it is a failed experiment. Unlike communism, this zombie just won't die.

In fairness, I wouldn't expect the Cons to stop spouting an inevitable party line. The real question is how long it takes before the rest of the country reacts to the assertion with the laughter it deserves rather than being fed lines about how the Cons were somehow forced into the red - but it seems like we're far too far away from that point.
