My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world. Jack Layton
Luckily real people, not leftist elites support these measures
Luckily real people, not leftist elites support these measuresSure, if you scare people to death for eight years, they will support just about anything (especially if the consequences are presented as remote to their daily lives and/or done to people they don't like) . It doesn't make it right and it doesn't mean it is good for the nation. As for the leftist elites, why if they are the "elite" are they the ones on the sidelines screaming at Obama to stop adopting Bush's security policies? It seems to me if they were the elite, the nonsense would have stopped. I don't see a leftist elite. I see a bunch of leftist outsiders.
Nah, there are different elites. There's an intellectual/academic elite, a media elite, and a policy-making elite. In this case, the academics and elite journalists line up on a different side than the policy-making elites, and so we have some tension between/among them...
The only one that counts is the politicl elite and they are firmly in the "look him up if he looks at us funny" camp.
