News About Spin (The Good Kind Not The Political Kind)

Oh boy, this is great news. My favorite science fiction writer (and the best writer of the genre Canada has ever produced), Robert Charles Wilson, has finally hit the super big time. His book, Spin, in which the Earth is wrapped in a time altering membrane by a mysterious alien race, for mysterious alien reasons, is being turned into a movie. I am so happy that one of Wilson's works is getting this treatment. It will hopefully expand his readership beyond geeks like me. If anyone deserves this success, it is RCW.

Far freaking out, as they say.

I sure hope they do the book justice, though. In the sub-genre of Really Really Big Ideas (mindstretchers, as it were), Spin really stood out. It deserves a movie that drops your jaw to the floor in the first 500 frames and keeps it there until the credits roll, and you walk out of the theatre making gaffed-fish expressions because you're still trying to get your head around what you saw, let alone find words to talk about it.

Awesome. I look forward to it.

But I disagree that he's the best Canadian sci-fi fantasy writer. I have huge crushes on Robert Sawyer and Guy Gavriel Kay.

(Oh what can I say, I really just like plugging Canadian writers.
