Anyone Give A Shit

About Afghan detainees anymore? Anyone? Anyone at all?

Wednesday morning update: Pogge points to a depressing article that came out late yesterday afternoon. The Liberals and the Bloc are looking less like dupes and more like co-conspirators, every day.

  1. The flood of comments pretty much answers your question. I'll go one better. How long do you think it will be after we leave Afghanistan that our caring, fawning public forget about all the wounded and mutilated soldiers we've brought back and their families? Trust me, I know. It won't be long at all.

  2. And our treatment of Afghan civilians might also seem to be worth some attention if the feigned concern for them that was supposed to justify the mission in the first place actually existed. But we'll likely never hear about it again.

  3. Sadly, no.

It's becoming very reminiscent of Vietnam. I hope Canadian vets fare better.

  4. Please, most don't care about the police brutality of the protesters and those simply unfortunate enough to be at the wrong place at the wrong time at the G20, and still those who think it's just A-ok for cops to savagely rip the leg off of amputee John Pruyn's body & then when failing to hop on command like a circus poodle, get dragged roughly with his hands tied with plastic garbage bag twisties to the overcrowded dirty cage.

To summarize, most of the Timmy Horton's crowd doesn't care about their own being brutalized by police and think they deserve it. Why should they care about brown people known a world away?

  5. I give a damn. I'm just not sure what to do now, after the Libs squandered their opportunity after Milliken's ruling. I know for a fact that specific emails exist that back up Colvin's contentions; it would have taken nothing for the Libs to get their hands on them. Instead they just threw in the towel.

All we can do now is keep the issue alive with posts like yours and hope that the emails find themselves another venue.

  6. And I wrote that before I saw this.

    Good grief.

  7. The Liberals never did, except to the extent that it could hurt the Tories.

Anyway, the UN seat is the cause du jour, now.
