My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we'll change the world. Jack Layton
I'd advise dropping the "fat" epithet. The cuts are lousy regardless of Ford's weight. We hate it when those on the right stoop to such levels of schoolyard rhetoric; we do ourselves no service when we fall into the same trap in return.
Except that this stuff wasn't on his platform. He promised "no major service cuts" after all, but unfortunately he's decided to deceive the voting public of Toronto, just like a typical politician.
I would say cutting service to the public is a pretty serious step and runs counter to Ford's explicit promise to perform economic magic -- to provide services without taxing anyone to pay for them. Ford's problem is he ran for the head job at the level of government that can't run deficits. Credit card conservatism (the driving force of the modern Republican/Conservative parties) is impossible at the local level.
Here it comes. The stupid fat fuck.
ReplyDeleteCutting libraries is the mark of a total incompetent.
Libraries, hospitals, schools, parks. Those are a few of the sorts of things that right-wingers despise.

ReplyDeleteYes, I could stand to lose a few myself.
ReplyDeleteWell, this is a reference to that inimitable Youtube video, "Councillor Rob Ford in action".
ReplyDeleteFord's off to a quick start as mayor, isn't he? Getting lots of his platform through...

ReplyDeleteIs trimming library spending a tad bit a "major service cut"?
ReplyDeleteIt's a service cut. And cutting a branch that serves the burgeoning condo population in the downtown sounds significant to me.
